12 Travel Songs That Celebrate Place (U.S. Version)

Some songs can transport you to a new place, with their lyrics or with their cadence. Here's my playlist to celebrate the United States. I had a difficult time narrowing. It pained me to leave The Beach Boys on the cutting room floor. (Yes, I know there are two songs for Detroit. I'm from "the D"!)

What did I miss? What would be on your playlist?

Enjoy.

Thanks for stopping by and for linking to my blog. I would have to have to add "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair)" to this list ;)

Steve, I got several requests via email for that song. Also, my friend from Louisiana recommended Hank Williams's "Jambalaya on the Bayou" and "Chicago" by Sufjan Stevens.

Ekua, I like that one, too.

Midnight Train to Georgia, definitely. Uhm, Sitting On The Dock of The Baby comes to mind. Prince's When Doves Cry. Sara Smile.

So many.
